Dear Friends,
We have made some changes at Domaine du Fourtet, which I hope will have
great benefit to all our clients for the future.
My wife and I participated in the 11th World Galloway Congress in the Counties of Galloway and Dumfriesshire in Scotland. This is a biannual gathering and was staged by The Galloway Cattle Society of which we have been members for some years. We were based at Gretna Green as the Headquarters of the event and visited many different Galloway farmers both in Scotland and the North of England. There were over 250 delegates from outside the United Kingdom, so was a great opportunity to meet many like-minded Galloway Farmers and learn of their experiences with the breed. As we were the only members from France, I was initiated into carrying the French flag to represent France at the Congress and also at the finale of the days judging at The Annual Dumfries and Galloway Cattle Show.
As a result of this visit we have purchased top pedigree Scottish bred Galloway heifers, not from Scottish farmers directly, but from German sources with direct Scottish bloodlines, enabling easier shipment to Domaine du Fourtet in the South West of France.
Our herd is now well developed producing annual additions of both heifer and bull calves in similar proportions, while our stock available for market is at a consistent level.
